For those new to my blog, hi my name is Lakia and I’m a die hard Steelers fan. I know, who cares. Hell, I do. For those that have been readers here and there, one time or another you’ve come across football related posts. I’m no stranger to sharing how much of a Steelers fan I am. Well, a football fan in general. Continue reading “Sound Off: Sincerely, A Depressed Steelers Fan”
Lady Gaga headlined this years Pepsi Halftime show at Superbowl 51. Now when they announced that Lady Gaga would be headlining, I was excited because not only does Gaga have hits, but she can perform her ass off. As for this performance, well it was a “slay no slay” for me. Continue reading “Sound Off: Lady Gaga Slay No Slay?”
Yes, I am that person that had to run to my blog to share my excitement of Beyoncé being pregnant with not ONE, but TWO babies! QUEEN BEY IS HAVING TWINS! Now, if you’re not a loyal member of the Bey Hive than something like this would just be, “oh, another celebrity pregnancy.” BUT THIS IS BEYONCÉ!
Cheers to another football themed plan with me and my last football anything until the fall. Although my team is not in the Super Bowl (forever #SteelerNation), I couldn’t resist creating a themed spread for the week. I’ve created 5 in the past so it was challenging to create another one completely different from my previous ones. Not too shabby for my 6th time.

The Pepsi Halftime is officially over. Well it’s been over for a while and at this current moment the Degnver defense is running the field. It’s now a blowout game, but it could quickly escalate into one if the Panthers do not score in the 3rd quarter and they lose focus. So many teams have lost it simply by letting their emotions get the best of them. Anything could happen. It’s not over till it’s over.
IT’S SUPER BOWL WEEK! I have dedicated my spread this week to Super Bowl 50 using a football sampler kit from the Etsy shop Lillie Henry. Last week, although I had no accompanying video, I love the way the spread turned out. It was bright and vibrant.
For this week I could have recreated the spread I did for the week of September 7th-13th, but I decided to do a different football spread. This spread is my first no white space spread, ok minus the sidebar.
For those that do not know planner lingo, no white space is the entire layout covered in stickers. Now don’t be alarmed, these stickers are typically checklists combined with full/half boxes, and washi strips. You do not need a big bank of a massive Etsy collection to achieve a no white space spread.
Majority of this spread is washi tape/ I used some brown and green striped that I had to fill the boxes. I didn’t have any full box stickers since the ones from LillieHenry were cut like page flags. I also didn’t want to bulk up the page since I used a printable checklist on top so I interchanged between the two washis to complete the spread.
I love the adhesive border on the bottom of this spread plus the ‘Super Bowl Sunday’ sticker that I used to completely cover the 7th. I was thinking of layering the border, but the ‘Touchdown’ border just happened to work. To fill the white space I layered black washi and cut a flag in the border and on either side I put a football player.
My sidebar has been great for keeping track of my homework and what I’d like to clean for the week. I’m not crowding my weekly spread and there’s not a specific day for the sidebar. The sidebar is great for extras that you have.
I love the silhouette of the football players. The previous spread I created had gold football players, but I really love that these are black which worked well with the border. As usual, links to stickers/washi used will be below.
As a Steelers fan, I couldn’t be more upset that our road to the Super Bowl has come to an end. With it being Superbowl 50 and Steelers winning Super Bowl 40, I thought we could’ve went to the top. The road was similar to our journey back then. The 6th seed, the under dog. The one no one thought would make it and we went on to beat the Seattle Seahawks.
Again that’s history. We could’ve made major history because I truly believed we would not only beat the Broncos but go and beat the Patriots. We could have not only won Super Bowl 50, but won our 7th championship. There’s always next year, right?
As a Steelers fan I could not be happier that Tom Brady’s suspension was upheld. First off, if there’s any team I hate as much, okay nearly as much as the Ravens, it’s the Patriots. It’s just something about them that I can’t stand. No it’s not the previous cheating allegations, no it’s really nothing against Tom Brady because he’s a beast as what he does. No it’s not the owner, general manager, coach. It’s just something about the team that irks me.
I love doing reviews and the Super Bowl Pepsi Halftime Show is included. Two years ago it was Beyoncè, last year Bruno Mars (click HERE for that review), and this year KATY PERRY! I’m a huge fan of her music and I was interested in seeing not only what she’d perform, but how she would do it.
I had expected for her to perform:
- ‘California Gurls’
- ‘Dark Horse’
- ‘Last Friday Night’
Out of those five, she performed four. Not too shabby for my predictions. She came out to “Roar’ on a geometric lion in a fiery two piece. Switch over to ‘Dark Horse’ with the same geometric themed set and then insert Lenny Kravitz jamming to ‘I Kissed a Girl.’ She didn’t show too much skin, but she dropped it for Lenny. She then had an outfit change into a beach ball inspired two piece and performed ‘Teenage Dream’ and ‘California Gurls.’ The set for that reminded me her ‘This Is How We Do’ video (click HERE for to check it out) with the dancing shark, beach balls, surf board, and palm trees.
Just when you thought it was over, it wasn’t. She kept going and I don’t mean that in a good way. She then brought out Missy Elliot who performed not one, not two, but THREE SONGS: ‘Get Ur Freak On,’ ‘Work It,’ and ‘Lose Control.’ No pop when she came out. Katy threw on a dope hoodie and even did a little choreo during ‘Get Ur Freak On.’ Just a little two step. Missy took me back with the hits though. I surely rapped along.
If you got a big _ let me search it
Once Missy was done Katy came back out and did ‘Firework as she floated through the arena on a Star that looked like something from a kids show. I was ok with her other outfits, but I didn’t like the star dress. She could’ve just done all sequins or something.
Overall the performance was pretty boring. Boring as in I wasn’t all that interested. There was no pop from the crowd, no buzz. I love that she brought out Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliot, but this new generation doesn’t know who they are. No one seemed to scream when Missy came out. Lenny Kravitz wasn’t a surprise because they kept saying through the first half that he’d be a part of the performance. How do you bring out someone and have them do three songs and you’re the headliner? She could’ve started rapping or something.
It just wasn’t what I expected and when it was over I was ready for the game to come back on. She did too much and while it’s great to bring out other stars during her set, it was just too much music. Never thought I’d say that, but it was. I would’ve preferred for her to elongate the songs she performed.
Russell Wilson took a shower and changed into a new uniform during Halftime. That pun right there shows that I could’ve been doing something else. Eh, it was alright. It wasn’t horrible, just not great compared to her predecessors.
Last year the game was a dud with a great Super Bowl performance. This year it was reversed. Still a fan of KP, just not this performance. Until next year…
