To get back into the swing of things, I wanted to share two videos that I’ve been loving. There’s not many artists that push the boundaries in videos. There’s some artists that have no boundaries at all. I appreciate videos that have concept and take you on a journey. Videos that tell a story. In the industry these days, those videos are hard to come by. Two that I’ve been loving are Big Sean’s, ‘Play No Games,’ and Rihanna’s, ‘BBHMM.’
R8 is coming, just not sure when. Rihanna has released a new single off her upcoming album, R8. She teased with the hashtag #BBHM, ‘Bitch Better Have My Money,’ with an interesting picture. It’s edgy and what I suppose to be an edgy couture with the overdrawn eyebrows. Moving past that, let’s get back to the music.
When I saw that Kanye released a video for his latest track ‘Only One’ I knew I should give it a review simply because I didn’t review the song. The track features Paul McCartney, but he would not be featured in the video. When reading YouTube comments to see what people thought about the video I saw that some people didn’t know who the hell Sir Paul McCartney was, which is disturbing, and went as far to say Kanye discovered him. The ignorance of this new generation. I’m not sure if it was sarcasm or if they were being serious. It could’ve been a combination of both.
The video shows a different side of Kanye similar to the life he’s living now of very low key. I mean he’s never been in the limelight, but with a wife like Kim Kardashian it’s amazing how low key he can be. The video begins with him running/jogging down this empty road with some one recording him. The voices are distorted, but you can hear what is being said.
The music begins and it’s auto-tune Kanye singing yet another tribute song which I enjoyed. Listening to the lyrics he’s speaking from his mothers perspective, the message he hears. In ‘Hey Mama’ he was talking to her now in ‘Only One’ she’s talking to him. Then North comes out in her cute little outfit matching her daddy’s swag and it’s just the two of them as the music plays.
Overall the video was pretty basic and generic, but the song speaks for itself. This is the type of song where a video wasn’t needed, but I don’t think it was all that bad. Some might find it boring because it wasn’t over the top, but a personal song like this didn’t need be. It displayed his personality. Away from everyone with his daughter.
While the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Atlanta Falcons square off in the third Thursday Night Football game of the season, there will be a change to the opening song. In the wake of the domestic violence case with Ray Rice Rihanna’s, ‘Run This Town’ (it’s actually Jay-Z’s song; Blueprint 3; featuring Rihanna & Kanye), was pulled from CBS last week as the Ravens played the Steelers.
Jay Z and Beyoncé have somewhat released their video for their latest duet “Part II (On The Run)”. After weeks of pictures being posted from the video shoot, here’s the product. In the nearly four minute video, the couple take Bonnie & Clyde to the next level with a cinematically with a star studded cast: Sean Penn, Don Cheadle, Guillermo Díaz, Emmy Rossum, Jake Gyllenhaal, Blake Lively, Rashida Jones, and Kidada Jones. It looks like it would be a GREAT movie then too bad at the end it says:
Well what is coming is a long awaited and highly anticipated tour between these two. The “On The Run Tour” kicks off June 25th in Miami and ends August 5th in San Francisco. Hopefully, maybe, fingers crossed they’ll add a few more dates.
DJ Khaled has teamed up with Jay Z, French Montana and the headliners of MMG (Rick Ross & Meek Mill) for his new track, ‘They Don’t Know About Love’. This is a usual lineup for Khaled except this time around he adds Jay Z to the mix. Take a listen to the track below:
Beyoncé has OFFICIALLY released her video for ‘Partition,’ even though most fans saw it when it hit the net back in December. Her self-titled album, Beyoncé, was released Decemer 13, 2013 as a surprise release and is on its way to having sold 2 million copies.
In Part 4 of her self-titled documentary titled, Liberation, Beyoncé talked about the lyrics of the song:
I was so embarrassed after I recorded the song because I’m just talking shit. I’m like, I can’t play this for my husband. I still haven’t played it for my mom. She’s gonna be very mad at me.
When asked about the concept of the video she stated:
It takes me back to when me and my husband first meet and he’s trying to scoop me and he thinks I’m the hottest thing in the world. I kinda had this whole fantasy of being in the car and this whole movie played in my head.

Similar to that of ‘Drunk In Love,’ this song features unofficial remixes from Busta Rhymes and Azealia Banks.
Since the release of Beyonce’s 5th self-titled studio album she’s been on tour, but had yet to implement her new tracks into the set. Well in her Glasglow, Scotland show (Feb. 20) she put in her new tracks along with her more familiar ones. Here’s the new setlist:
