Training camp has started which means football season is around the corner. Hurray! There’s been plenty of coverage of what’s going on during the training camps from the various teams. Two pictures in particular that are floating around is that of Ciara, Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks, and Baby Future. They were spotted a couple weeks ago at the San Diego Zoo looking like a cute little family. Yet, a lot are bashing Ciara for bring her son around her boyfriend. Is it too soon?
Happy Birthday to one of the greatest of all time, the real Slim Shady, EMINEM! He has redefined hip hop over the years and is one of the most celebrated rappers.
His first album, Infinite, was released in 1996 and over the course of nearly 20 years he has released 8 studio albums, and starred in a movie about his life that has become quite the classic. For the success of 8 Mile, Em snagged an Oscar for Best Original Song for the track ‘Lose Yourself’. Aside from an Oscar win Em has won other awards including: 14 AMAs, 17 BMAs, 13 VMAs, 10 TCAs, 10 WMAs, and an astounding 13 Grammy’s. Five of those Grammy wins were for Best Rap Album.
It’s amazing what a career Eminem has had and while he’s seasoned in the game his fans are still there and so are his lyrics. Not many rappers can lyrically add comedic relief to their music. Can’t wait to see what else he has in store.
HAPPY HAPPY 42nd BIRTHDAY EM! Listen to some of my favs below:
T.I. will be releasing his 9th studio album, Paperwork, October 21st. The album is the follow-up to 2012, Trouble Man: Heavy Is The Head (CLICK HERE for my album review) and its his first via his new label, Columbia. This is T.I.’s third home as an artist. His first album, I’m Serious, was released via Arista Records. Albums two through eight were released via Atlantic Records. He inked a deal with Columbia, November 22, 2013 to release his 9th studio album and he announced that he Pharrell would be executively producing the project.
The album will feature ‘New National Anthem’, ‘No Mediocre’ (feat, Iggy Azalea), ‘About The Money’ (feat. Young Thug’, and his latest ‘Got Me a Check’ (feat. Doe B), Aside from the features he has thus far, other artists to be featured include: Young Jeezy, Trae the Truth, Nipsey Hussle, Problem, Rick Ross, Lil Boosie and possibly Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga.

Khlaed might’ve been the first one to get Remy on a track since her release from prison, but she’s back with another We The Best member as she teams with French Montana. The track ‘MEGADEATH features Remy, French, Jadakiss and production by Swizz Beatz. I could definitely hear this being a radio smash and I really like it.

Nicki Minaj has been jumping on track after track, ‘No Love (Remix)’, ‘Bang Bang’. ‘Flawless (Remix)’, plus more and now she’s finally releasing another single off her upcoming album The Pink Print. There was ‘Lookin’ Ass’, ‘Pills N Potions’, and now the audio for the controversial artwork to ‘Anaconda’.
The track is really nothing extravagant to me. I guess I was expecting something more hard hitting. I feel like she hasn’t fully figured out the sound that she wants and while she has the freedom to experiment based off singles she’s released nothing sounds cohesive. This time around she samples Sir Mix-a-Lot‘s, ‘Baby Got Back’, and while I’m all for samples I just find nothing ‘OMG’ about this track. It’s not horrible, but Nicki has done better. Her freestyles to ‘Chiraq’ and ‘No Flex Zone’ sound better than this. The track was supposed to drop last week (7.28), but Nicki is no fool to marketing. There’s a buzz around her collab with Beyoncé so why not drop the new single. Again I’m all for experimenting it’s just that the song didn’t live up to the artwork.

Nicki Minaj will be debuting her new track, ‘Anaconda’, tomorrow (7.28) and her feature on Jessie J’s new track, ‘Bang Bang’, along with Ariana Grande debuts Tuesday (7.29) . This is all leading up to the release of her third studio album, The Pink Print. She’s been doing quite a bit from new music of her own, features, to exclusives with HSN, and acting. Nicki is no stranger to lending her voice to animation as she played her self in an episode of “The Cleveland Show” and as Haily in Ice Age: Continental Drift.
Well she’ll be giving her voice to an animated series, “Steven Universe”. She will play Sugilite, the combo of Garnet and Amethyst. Estelle is also featured in the episode as she voices Garnet.
The full episode titled “Coach Steven” will air August 21st at 6:30pm on Cartoon Network.

Drake and Lil Wayne are getting ready to hit the road next week to begin their 31-city tour, “Drake Vs. Lil Wayne”. There has been a video released for the upcoming ‘battle’ as Sage (Lil Wayne) versus the Protege (Drake). Say what you want about their music, BUT this show is sure to be one for the books. To have two rappers of the caliber of Drake and Lil Wayne on stage,at the same time, going song for song, is going to be a sight to see. Check out the clip below:
August Alsina is no strangers to remix or collaborating with rappers and this time around he enlists the help of Nicki Minaj. This track has been teased for a couple weeks now and the full version has finally been released. I love August Alsina’s voice and this will definitely be making its way to the airwaves. August does his usual singing and Nicki takes a stab at singing before breaking into rapping. She really likes mixing the two. Her verse isn’t extremely long, but it’s definitely what the track needed to make it to the airwaves. Take a listen to the remix below:
Drake has a lot on his plate, yet physically he’s been low on the radar. He has his smash hits ‘Believe Me’ and ‘Trophies’ all over the airwaves along with his other hits moving in and out of rotation daily. He hosts the ESPYs tonight (7.16) and he’s ready to take OVO to the next level and make it more than a catchphrase: OVO that’s major shit.
Although he’s still #TeamYMCMB, Drake has a label of his own, OVO, under Warner Bros. and there’s two projects ready to be released: Majid Jordan and PARTYNEXTDOOR; both Canadian artists. Majid Jordan was featured on ‘Hold On We’re Going Home’ and his debut EP, Place Like This drops July 29th. Also on that date PARTYNEXTDOOR will be releasing his second project, PARTYNEXTDOOR TWO. Take a listen to his latest Drake collab, ‘Recognize’.
Drake is putting Canada int he forefront, so the question is, what’s with a new album? Well, Drake has announced that his fourth studio album will be titled, View From The 6. It’s in the very early stages of production, but based off the radio hits it’s going to be yet another one in the books for Drake.
If his heat in mid-July is any sign of what he has in store for August, then it’s going to be OVO everywhere. The 5th annual OVOFest takes place August 3rd & 4th in Toronto with Drake and Outkast headlining. Of course there will be tons of surprises. Not even a week later he hits the road for a 31 city tour with Lil Wayne for the collaborative tour, Drake v. Lil Wayne. I mentioned before that these two will be battling on stage going back and forth, hit for hit. That should be interesting for sure. Who knows, maybe Drake and Weezy will both drop something new. A better competition, pull a 50 v. Kanye and drop View From The 6 and Carter V on the same day.
