Inexpensive Container Store Planner Finds

I was excited when I first discovered The Container Store, but I wasn’t excited about the prices. While I love organization and all sorts of containers, there were cheaper alternatives to what the store was selling. The closest one to me was nearly an hour away, but recently one opened that’s just 20 minutes away. The store layout is amazing, categorized (as it should be), and there’s some inexpensive finds that are worth looking into. Check out my inexpensive planner favs below!

Hallway Closet Cleanout | Crush the Chaos

I know I am not the only person to have a junk closet. I mean, my intentions were good when I first started placing items inside. I had a place for the vacuum cleaner which then turned to 3 vacuum cleaners. I’d have a space for my seasonal items, which has now exploded into different areas. I’m a crafter so having items in bulk is ideal, but bulk items are scattered everywhere! One of my goals before the end of Summer 2017 is to get this space organized and functioning. It’s not meant to be picture perfect! This edition of Crush the Chaos shares the mess as is before I clean and organize it.

New Work Bag + Organization

With a new position, I have switched up my bag. I have found what works and what doesn’t. Sometimes I try to create too many organizers for myself. Yes, it’s possible to be OVER organized. With my work bag I’ve simplified the bag and what’s inside. I also have a bag that I typically wouldn’t use unless I was going to the beach, but it works!

Michaels Haul + Building my Craft Stash

I’ve been pretty good about not buying any crafty items these past couple of months and trying to use what I have. This week at Michaels they were offering their 60% off coupon on regular price stickers, washi tape, and embellishments by Recollections. The location I went to didn’t have anything that I wanted, so I decided to stock up with their scrapbook paper deals instead.

Desk Declutter | Crush the Chaos

Welcome to another new series here on my blog, Crush the Chaos. This series will feature me going through my home and other areas of my life, organizing and implementing systems that I can keep up with. Plus, I’ll share my top tips along the way.

One of the key problems you may come across when you declutter is that you don’t know where to start, you get too overwhelmed, or you can’t get rid of certain items because of some sentimental value. Then when it comes to organizing, it’s a whole other ballgame. Sometimes we over organize and think that a container solves everything, but that’s not the case.

This first is my desk declutter. As always be sure to click the highlighted links throughout this post for related posts and links to purchase items/similar styles featured.

April Favorites | YouTube, Music, Lifestyle

Welcome to another monthly favorites edition here on the blog. I’ve been enjoying sharing this personal side of my life with you all. Chaotic Critic really is an open platform for not just my creativity, but sharing different parts of my life. Hopefully I’ll inspire someone out there plus give you something new to check out or listen to. As always be sure to click the highlighted links throughout the post. Check out my previous favorites for 2016 below:

This month I’ve divided my favorites into 3 sections: YouTube, Music, and Lifestyle.

YOUTUBE

When it comes to YouTube I’ve been obsessed with vlogs, home decor, and anything DIY. I haven’t really found anyone knew, but I have gravitated back to some oldie but goodies.

I’ve been LOVING CouponToProvide especially. Her hauls and her DIYs are out of this world. She’s like the queen of repurposed products. I decided to turn my shoe closet into a craft closet in my office so I took inspiration from her space for sure. It’s a long video (2 hours long), but check it out. It’s amazing!

I’ve really enjoyed Daily Davidsons and Kayla Lashae Vlogs since they’ve both moved. The Davidsons have moved into a newly built home and it’s been cool to watch that whole process. I’ve been watching Kayla Lashae for like ever and I’ve seen every move she’s done and I just love her blogs. She’s recently moved into a new apartment and it’s been cool to watch that process plus I love her style.

MUSIC

I have a crap ton of music that I’ve been loving this month. I wasn’t sure that I’d have a lot, but the list has surely bulked up. Check out my entire ‘hello 2016’ playlist below as well.

    • Rachel Platten – ‘Stand by You’
    • Panic! At t\The Disco – ‘Victorious’
    • Fat Joe / Remy Ma / French Montana – ‘All The Way Up’
    • Elle King – ‘America’s Sweetheart’
    • Iggy Azalea – ‘Team’
    • Drake / Future – ‘Big Rings’
    • Gwen Stefani – ‘Make Me Like You’
    • Adele – ‘Send My Love (To Your New Lover)’

LIFESTYLE

Alright last but not least is my lifestyle category. This is everything else outside of entertainment. I’ve been on an organizing kick. I mean, I’m a planner so that’s a given, right? I mentioned that I’m in the process of working on a craft closet, post + video to come soon, and it’s taken up quite a bit of my month. On top of that I have been doing DIYs for my bedroom gallery wall. A video and post are coming for that as well.

As for the goals I made for March to accomplish during April (click HERE for that), I’ve completely failed. Well in the area of videos I have more content coming and with more content equals more blog posts. I do want to get back into my daily devotions which shouldn’t even be a hassle. Also, eating better, drinking more water, and working out have to be a priority as well. Cheers to May!

Dollar Tree Haul + Organization

I have a lot of organizing, well reorganizing, that I would like to do  along with some decorating. What better place to shop than Dollar Tree. I went to two different locations that were recently opened. One was laid out better than the other, but had less of a selection. The one that had the most variety was a bit of a mess with a lot of stuff still in boxes, yet I found some great stuff. Be sure to check out my previous haul HERE. I’ll be separating this haul into three different sections: planner, home decor, and organization/cleaning.

PLANNER

I love shopping Dollar Tree for planner goodies and I was not disappointed in this trip. I’d love to find the emoji items, but I’ve had no luck. I absolutely love the JOT brand and I picked up some items I’ve seen on Instagram & YouTube, plus some other goodies. I found some page flags that I saw in a video from CoupontoProvide plus some chevron sticky notes. The best find were the dot stickers that are going to work in just about any layout. I definitely plan on going back to pick up a few more because I’m addicted.

Home Decor

I’m going to be redesigning my bedroom by creating a gallery wall in front of my bed. I absolutely hate the blank space and right now I have a clock and random frames hanging. I found two frames at Dollar Tree that work well with what I’m going for. One says, “Bloom where you are planted,” and the other “Don’t quit your day dream.” Be on the lookout for my finished gallery wall coming soon.

ORGANIZATION / CLEANING

IMG_3300

I don’t buy a lot of my cleaning solutions from Dollar Tree, but the supplies are just what I need. I wanted to create an organization system under my bathroom cabinet which has my supplies just sitting there. I purchased two ‘Stack Them Up’ containers which will have cleaning supplies for my toilet in one and my sink/shower in the other. If I have space for a third one then I’ll buy another one, but I knew that two would work in the space.

I also picked up some multi-purpose cleaning wipes to put in my car ($1 from Rite Aid) along with some other towels that I split with my grandmother. One will be going in my car while the others will be going in the bathroom.

Lastly, I picked up some nail stickers. I chose this mint green teal patter over the tribal one and splattered paint that I saw. For just $1, why not? I love the variety that Dollar Tree has and I plan to share more hauls here in the future. for now I also want to shop my house and find uses for what I already have.
