It has been a whirlwind in the media with politics. The threats against other countries, the fight for healthcare, the rallies dividing citizens further a part, and most importantly the montage of tweets from the POTUS. I have a platform where I can share my thoughts. The joy of freedom of speech. I may be a football fan, but first and foremost I am a black woman in the United States of America. I AM BLACK! I have given my take on the Kaepernick situation that seems to be getting bigger and bigger by the day. Could the POTUS have taken things too far with his latest rant of comments?
It feels like forever since I’ve written a blog post, but truly it’s been over a week. I hope everyone had an amazing Summer. Football is officially back and of course I’m all about that black and yellow #SteelerNation. Who will make it to the Super Bowl? Will anyone have an undefeated season? Aside from those basic questions every season, there’s been a lot of conversation surrounding boycotting the NFL. I for one will not be participating in that.
Lady Gaga headlined this years Pepsi Halftime show at Superbowl 51. Now when they announced that Lady Gaga would be headlining, I was excited because not only does Gaga have hits, but she can perform her ass off. As for this performance, well it was a “slay no slay” for me. Continue reading “Sound Off: Lady Gaga Slay No Slay?”
Football season is right around the corner. Preseason starts with the Hall of Fame Game on August 7th and the first official game of the season starts September 8th. I’m beyond excited and ready to see my squad, The PITTSBURGH STEELERS, make their way to the Super Bowl. Last year, we were close, but injuries got in the way. Just when I thought we were healthy, we have two key players that get suspended for substance abuse violations.
The Pepsi Halftime is officially over. Well it’s been over for a while and at this current moment the Degnver defense is running the field. It’s now a blowout game, but it could quickly escalate into one if the Panthers do not score in the 3rd quarter and they lose focus. So many teams have lost it simply by letting their emotions get the best of them. Anything could happen. It’s not over till it’s over.
As a Steelers fan, I couldn’t be more upset that our road to the Super Bowl has come to an end. With it being Superbowl 50 and Steelers winning Super Bowl 40, I thought we could’ve went to the top. The road was similar to our journey back then. The 6th seed, the under dog. The one no one thought would make it and we went on to beat the Seattle Seahawks.
Again that’s history. We could’ve made major history because I truly believed we would not only beat the Broncos but go and beat the Patriots. We could have not only won Super Bowl 50, but won our 7th championship. There’s always next year, right?
It’s my favorite time of year, NFL PLAYOFFS. Yet it’s bittersweet because football season is almost over. Oh the drought of something to watch until the fall. It’s been one hell of a wildcard weekend. The Chiefs, Steelers, Seahawks, and Packers have all advanced to the divisional round. Yet, the real highlight was the battle between the Bengals and the Steelers. Let’s recap the other scores of the Wildcard Games:
- Kansas City Chiefs vs. Houston Texans | 30-0
- Seattle Seahawks vs. Minnesota Vikings | 10-9
- Green Bay Packers v. Washington Redskins | 35-18
The Pittsburgh Steelers have redeemed themselves from a sloppy game in the first week against the Super Bowl champs, the New England Patriots. Thankfully the game wasn’t a blowout (28-21), but the as a fan, the momentum of the team is disappointing. The team can be on a roll and then no scoring in the next quarter. Are the Steelers really being beat, or are they beating themselves?
As a Steelers fan I could not be happier that Tom Brady’s suspension was upheld. First off, if there’s any team I hate as much, okay nearly as much as the Ravens, it’s the Patriots. It’s just something about them that I can’t stand. No it’s not the previous cheating allegations, no it’s really nothing against Tom Brady because he’s a beast as what he does. No it’s not the owner, general manager, coach. It’s just something about the team that irks me.
Compared to last years Super Bowl BLOWOUT in Jersey, (click HERE for my review) I was excited for this years game because the competition was beyond evident. Before I get into the my review, CONGRATS TO JEROME BETTIS! He’s on his way to being enshrined in football history as a member of the 2015 Hall of Fame Class. #GoSteelers #Steelernation.
Continuing with the congrats, CONGRATS to the New England Patriots. No I’m not a fan of the team, but that was one hell of a game.
