Lipstick Collection

I have gone through my beauty stash because I do not consider myself having a collection. I’m not into makeup much at all. Not foundation, although I love MAC’s studio fix powder plus foundation which I’d purchase again for $27. Then there’s eyeshadow which I’m far from being a pro at applying and I just keep it around to have around. When it comes to lipstick, I am quite a sucker. I have had to go through and purge my collection, but I’m happy with what I have kept. Be sure to click the links highlighted for related posts and links to products featured.

I love lipstick. Not lipgloss, but lipstick. With my skin tone I love purples, certain reds, and a few nudes. With the matte liquid lip trend going on, it’s something that I’d like to try out in the summer. I want to master the lip pencil with the matt lippie for sure.

As for what’s in my stash, my ultimate favorite would have to be the Revlon Lip Butters. I love the consistency of the product. It’s so smooth and hydrating and while it feels like a lip balm it packs so much color. My favorite shade is ‘Fig Jam.’

I also have just about every variety of purple that there is. I just don’t like pink on my skin tone so purple/berry shades work well. I would like to find a pink that compliments my skin tone, but I just prefer purple. A lot of my lippies are from the drugstore and Drugstore.com is one of my favorite places to buy what I can’t find locally.

The most outlandish color would have to be Mac’s Hautecore. It’s a black lippe. I couldn’t resist it being a Steelers fan. Yes, I bought it for that reason. I have paired it with yellow eyeshadow on top just for effect. Experiment, it’s just makeup.

I’m not really into lipstick trends. As noted above, the matte liquid lipstick is what’s hot right now, but I love a vampy lip all year round. I haven’t really experimented with other colors and purple just happens to be my thing, but I’m open to experimenting.

As for storage, I have my lippies in this 24 slot container that I purchased on Ebay. You can find them just about anywhere, but I love the acrylic look. I have longer lippies that I keep in a mini storage drawer that I got on clearance from Target, but 95% of my collection has been consolidated into the 24 slots. Purchase the acrylic organizer HERE.

Holiday Wish List

The holiday season is in full swing and I wanted to share my wish list featuring the website Spring.Com. Spring offers a variety of products from clothing to beauty, home decor, and entertainment from top brands such as: Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, Warby Parker, Kate Spade, J Brand, American Apparel, Smashbox, and countless others. What’s great about Spring is that not only can you surf on the web, but there’s a convenient app to shop for yourself or your loved ones with just the click of a button. Small budget, no problem. There’s items for the high end and low end.

As for my wish list I comprised items based on need and want. I also made sure to keep my ideal budget under $500. I’ve been downsizing a lot from my closet to my overall possessions so I added items that I would actually use. There’s no sense in adding items to a wish list that I would not see myself actually using for a long period of time.

Untitled

I picked out two pairs of eyeglasses. The two styles I picked out have a similar shape except one is a complete frame. Price wise, both frames fall in under $350, but for me that’s no problem since I wear my glasses ALL THE TIME!

Next up, SHOES! I’ve been having Hunter rain boots on my wish list for quite some time and until I actually buy a pair they’ll always be added. Then there’s FRYE boots which I love. The style i chose has a cute low chunky heel and they’re over the knee. Hunter rain boots are $160 while the FRYE boots are more of a splurge at $498.

I’ve always wanted a sheepskin jacket and this reversible one would be a great addition to my wardrobe. With the camel colored side I could pair it with countless outfits, but flipping it to the white side I’d love to do a white cozy outfit. White jeans, white flowy top, and a white beanie. I’d probably add grey as well since I won’t really wear all white. Great staple to a wardrobe especially in a colder climate.

I found this cute chain necklace that it one of my favorite styles of jewelry. This one has a gold plate in the middle. Then there’s the bluetooth speaker that I’d love to have. I wonder just how much ‘umph’ would come out of it.

My favorite add to the wish list are the lippie trios. The lipstick, lip pencil, and lip gloss are an awesome deal for just $69 from the brand Charlotte Tilbury. I couldn’t forget to add a bang for your buck item to my wish list. Awesome deal!

Fall Essentials

I’ve been wanting to do a fall post for quite some time, I just really haven’t gotten around to doing so. I thought of doing a look book, even a fall wishlist, but I thought sharing my fall essentials would be fun as well. My essentials are those items that I frequent the most and the ones that I’ve been obsessed with over the past couple of years. First up, shoes.

IMG_2293

I’ve shared these shoes in previous posts whether it was when I hauled them or in Outfit of the Days. The black ankle boots which I scored for 50% off from H&M two years ago ($60 to $30) are my staple for the fall and winter. I love the gold detail and it really dresses up any outfit. What’s great about these shoes is that they could be worn with a short romper, a skirt, or boyfriend jeans. The pointed toe makes them sort of like witch boots, but I love them. Similar styles HERE.

The second pair I purchased from GoJane.Com. I really love the style of DocMartens, but not only are they trendy, but they’re not cheap either. For a trendy shoe I’d rather pay for a similar style. I had a pair in black as well, but unfortunately they scuffed a few times after I wore them. The maroon/burgundy pair held up with no problem and I love pairing them with dark wash jeans, a flannel, or even a hoodie. Similar styles HERE.

IMG_2295

Moving on to my purses for the fall, I’ve been loving my olive green tote from H&M and small satchel that my grandmother gave to me nearly a year ago. With whatever bag I use, since most of my bags are huge, I throw the brown one in which holds my wallet, keys, etc. I won’t give too much away since I’ll be doing a What’s in My Bag soon. Find similar styles to the H&M tote HERE.

IMG_2290

I’m not a candle hoarder as I see from some people on YouTube, nor do I burn the ones I have a lot, but the ones I do burn are AMAZING! I’m all for the Bath & Body Works 3-wick candles, when they’re on sale. For the fall I’ve been burning ‘Autumn Sky’ and ‘Apple Orchard.’ ‘Autumn Sky’ has a fresh manly scent while ‘Apple Orchard’ would be great for the kitchen. Don’t let the price fool you, these candles are amazing and you can always reuse the jar once you’re done. To purchase, click HERE.

Lastly are the beauty products that I love oh so much. From nail polish to my favorite scent and who doesn’t love lipstick. My all time favorite neutral is Revlon Lip Butter in ‘Fig Jam.’ I stumbled across it accidentally and it’s been my favorite ever since. It’s the perfect cross between a lipstick and a lip gloss. You can apply as much or as little as you want. Be sure to click the links below to purchase the items that could be found.

First Impression #11: Kat Von D ‘Everlasting Liquid Lipstick’

Here’s anther review from a product in the Sephora ‘Give Me More Lip’ set. Click the links below to check out my previous reviews:

This time around I am reviewing the Kat Von D ‘Everlasting Liquid Lipstick.” It is available in 12 shades and costs $19. The shade I received was ‘Outlaw’ and is described as a “brick red.” The lippie fits true to its name. I loved it when I swatched it and I loved it even more when I applied it, that was until it dried. I see why it has ‘everlasting’ in its title because it takes that long to get it off. It reminded me so much of the Wet n Wild ‘Mega Last Liquid Lip Color,’ which retail for $2.99 and are available in 13 shades (click HERE for my review of those) . Great swatch and application, but it would dry like glue on my lips.

0131151430_2-1-1This Kat Von D lippie was not as thick and applied smoother for me then the Wet n Wild ones, but the Wet n Wild ‘Mega Last Liquid Lip Colors’ could account as a dupe for this lippie. In fact the color I reviewed ‘Red My Mind’ comes close. When applying, the lippie did dry quickly on my lip, but not to the point of feeling like glue on my lips. There was no transfer when drinking so the color does stick. As mentioned above, I had slight problem removing the product.  It took some time to get off, but a baby wipe did the job.

Would I recommend? Yes I would. It lives up to its name and if you don’t mind a bit of a budge to get the product then it might be for you. For the type of product it is I see it as worth the $19 and there are great color selections. Other shades I want to try are ‘Lolita,’ ‘L.U.V,,’ and ‘Vampira’.

First Impression #10: OCC Lip Tar

I’ve done two previous posts on products I received in the Sephora ‘Give Me More Lip Set’. The two brands I reviewed were Too Faced and Tarte. Click HERE and HERE for those posts. This time around I’m reviewing the craze of the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics, ‘OCC Lip Tar.’ I’m so excited to review this and it’s by far my favorite from the set.

Before I get into the review let’s just talk about the brand for a second. OCC is one that has hit YouTube with a surge and the craze has been all around they flip tars. I have been wanting to try them out for quite some time and when I saw the lip tar was offered in the set I couldn’t pass it up. Plus it was in a shade I would actually wear,

The ‘OCC Lip Tar’s’ are available in a variety shades/finishes and sell for $18. The Sephora set gave a test tube size in the color ‘Black Dahlia’ from the matte collection and can be purchased HERE (when it gets back in stock). There’s a test tube set as well that offers 12 shades for $59.

The color ‘Black Dahlia’ is described as a “blackest blackened red.” When I first saw the color I thought it was a black. When applying I saw the red tint it is described as when further applying with the brush turned into a deep burgundy. I absolutely LOVE IT! I am not keen on using a lip brush (I suck at it), but I was able to apply this product with ease and little mess. I do store it in a sandwich bag inside my lippie bag. While it is matte, I still applied the  e.l.f. ‘Translucent Matifying Powder’ on top. It works for me and no the color does not crack.

The only thing about the set that I would’ve liked is the vinyl pouch that the lip tar comes with. It’s great for traveling purposes in and out of different handbags and to keep the lippie and lip brush together.

I would love to purchase more of these colors and for $18 it’s not horrible for a lip product that goes such a long way. There’s so many shades that I really do not know which to choose. I’d rather go in the store and pick from there. Other shades I would like to try: ‘Tarred,’ ‘Pagan,’ ‘Traffic,’ and ‘Vain.’

Did this product live up to the hype? Yes. Would I purchase again at full price? HELL YES!

First Impression #9: Tarte ‘LipSurgence Lip Tint’ and ‘Power Pigment’

0131151421_2I previously reviewed the Too Faced products that I received in the Sephora, ‘Give Me More Lip’ set (click HERE for that post). This time around I’m reviewing both the Tarte ‘LipSurgence Lip Tint’ and ‘Power Pigment.’ Both of the products are similar in application as they are both lip crayons. The LipSurgence is smaller while the pigment is longer and thinner. Still the products are similar.

The ‘LipSurgence Lip Tint’ comes in a regular and matte form, both costing $24 and can be purchased HERE. There are six regular shades and the shade that I received was ‘Moody’ which is described as a “deep berry,” I can see why it is described as such, but it’s not that deep. The color itself before application is a deep berry. So, if you’re looking for the shade to apply on your lips as it looks then you’d be disappointed. When applying this lippie opposed to the other,  I did feel a tingling sensation on my lips which indicated hydration, The color is a very nice berry that is buildable, but not to the point of the color being too much, I love an apply and go lip and this is definitely one. The size is 0.6 oz. which is great for a sample size, Love this product, but I’m not interested in any of the other shades nor the price tag.

0131151418a_2-1-1Next up is the ‘Power Pigment’ which is available in eight shades, costs $24 and can be purchased HERE. The set gave not the sample size in the shade of “Flush,” but the actual size of 0.06oz. That’s a lot of product and similar to the lip tint it reminds me of a lip crayon and lives up to the name of the product being a ‘Power Pigment’. Compared to the tint there is a lot more color and the clot is described as a “sheer berry”. I really don’t see it as that. To me it’s a cross between a pink and a berry. I do like this product and I keep it in my purse (click HERE to see what else is inside my lippie bag). I applied to much pressure when applying and broke off the tip, womp womp, BUT it still glides on with no problem, While the shades are limited in this product as well, I would like to try out: ‘Natural Beauty’. Points for the packaging. It’s super cute.

I think these products are great for apply and go, but the shade variation is limited. For $24 for as little product as you’re getting just isn’t worth it for me. I know that these products can last quite some time, but they’re nothing I would stock up on. It was nice to be included in the set, especially the full size of the ‘Power Pigment,’ but outside of the set I would not purchase. The shades just don’t stand out to me. Nice product and application? Yes. Worth the money? No,

Fashion Forward Friday [V. 21]: What’s In My Bag, Winter Edition

It’s been a year since I’ve posted a What’s In My Bag. When I started my Fashion Forward Friday Series it was the first installment (Click HERE for that). Well, I love sharing what’s in my bag and when looking at my initial post, the contents are pretty much the same. I thought I’d still share anyway.

IMG_1153-1

The purse that I am currently using is a Liz Claiborne Drawstring Bucket Bag from JCPenny. I posted it in my ‘Happy HAULidays’ post (Click HERE for that), I got my bag in black which is what I needed, an everyday black bag.

IMG_1148-1

No need to go in depth with everything as most of what’s in my bag are self-explanatory,.I will say, I always need to have pens and paper to jot down blogging ideas and other thoughts I have throughout the day. I prefer to write than take notes in my phone.

IMG_1150-1

Looking closer into my ‘lippie bag’, I chose to uses  clear bag from one of my bag sets so I could see everything. I have a mirror, translucent powder, a brush, and  mascara. I use the translucent powered to make the OCC lip tar stay on longer. As for my three lip colors (click the links to lead directly to product):

I will be doing a review on both the OCC and Tarte lippies that I received in the Sephora, ‘Give Me More Lip, set. Stay tuned for that,

Usually there’s more junk such as lose papers and what not, but since I just got the bag and I’ve been using it for less than a month it’s pretty clean.

Fall Haul Pt. 2

Last week I posted my Fall Haul Pt. 1 (click HERE for that). I had a couple more items that came in and I wanted to share. In shopping for fall pieces I knew that I had a lot of clothes already in my closet and I’ve even (forced myself) to downsize what I’m not wearing.

Sidebar, for the items that I have given away they are brand new or only worn a couple times. I have a few listed on Vinted (click HERE), but a majority is donated to my church’s clothes closet.

Back to the haul, I am currently buying pieces that will become staples in my wardrobe more so than be trendy. I found a pair of shoes that I love and a lippie set that I couldn’t pass up.

First up are my new shoes from ShoeDazzle. I do not want to give too much away because I will be doing a full review sometime this month on my experience with ShoeDazzle. I’ve always wanted a pair of maroon/oxblood shoe booties and I have a pair from GoJane (click HERE for that review), but these have a heel. I absolutely love them! Again stay tuned for the review. To see if the shoe is still available, click HERE. The shoe is called the ‘Jasleen’ by Leila Stone.

IMG_4013

Next up was a lippie set from Sephora that I came across last year, but it was sold out. The set is ‘Give Me More Lip’ and there is ‘Give Me Some Lip’. I received a $50 Sephora gift card for my birthday (so sweet) and I treated myself to the “Give Me More Lip” set which cost a whopping $69. Thankfully out of pocket all I had to pay was a little over $13. A full review will be given on this product from hits and misses and of course swatches, so stay tuned for that. Be sure to click all links above to get to the product, if it is still available.

IMG_4011

We are now in November, HAPPY NOVEMBER, and I will be accumulating a few more pieces here and there. The lippie set was a sure splurge, but as for future purchases I’m thinking longterm and versatile. Thanks for reading. (All photos are that of my own.)

My Top 5 Lippies: Spring Edition

I recently posted my top 5 accessories for Spring so to keep along that theme I wanted to post about my top 5 lip products (lippies) for Spring as well. Here they are (in price order):

IMG_0741-1

Swatches Left to Right:

'Heroine', 'Brazen Berry', 'Sugar Plum Fairy', 'Dolly Pink', 'A Stiff Pink
‘Heroine’, ‘Brazen Berry’, ‘Sugar Plum Fairy’, ‘Dolly Pink’, ‘A Stiff Pink’

If I had to pick 1 favorite out of the 5 it would be hard because I’m a sucker for purple. I know it’s Spring and dark lips are more fall, but I think for a night out ‘Sugar Plum Fairy’ would be perfect. ‘Brazen Berry’ and “Heroine’ are very close in color, but ‘Brazen Berry’ is a tone lighter not making it an exact dupe. I did a First Impression on the Wet n Wild Balm Stains and ‘A Stiff Pink’ was my favorite out of the 3 I reviewed. I have tried other light pink lippies on my lips and none of them work except for this one. To give it more pizzaz than it already has, add ‘Dolly Pretty Pink’ on top. As for my fav, I’ll go with my most worn ‘Brazen Berry’.

What are your fav lippies for Spring?

Stay tuned next week for my top 5 nail polishes.

OOTD #1: Casual [4.19.14]

HAPPY SATURDAY EVERYONE!

I want to incorporate more OOTDs (outfit of the days) here on my blog and I thought since I don’t work today I could give a glimpse of what I wear on a Saturday when I have a few errands to run. I spent the earlier part of my morning blogging and I will be going to the mall soon on the hunt for a lavender outfit & a pair of Converse. Hopefully I’ll be successful in getting what I’m looking for. Anyway, I wanted to share my OOTD so here it is. I

So not pictured I have on leggings from H&M that I will feature in a future haul and a basic black tank from Forever 21. I like to keep my outfits as simple as possible when I have nowhere important to go. Be sure to click the links under the pictures.
