Wellness Wednesday (V.12 ): Fitness Update + Haul

I’ve been slacking with my blog post, but I wanted to update and share with you all how my fitness journey is going and the new workout gear that I purchased. First off, I talked about doing Whole 30 and you can read the posts below for updates on that:

In addition, I’ve been working out a lot more, but as fall rolls in and the Summer ends, I’ve been slacking really bad. I haven’t had the energy that I had during Whole 30 and I definitely have been having more migraines. I really believe that what you eat plays into a lot of what your body feels. When I wasn’t eating grains, cheese, and drinking more water, I really hadn’t experienced any migraines. My migraines are too the point where I feel extremely nauseous, I can’t keep my eyes open, and I’m to the point of tears.

During the entire Whole 30 experience I had no migraines nor did I have any headaches during my menstrual cycle. As I have finished Whole 30 I’ve realized that the migraines are back and they are just as intense. I really need to cut back on all the food that I’ve consumed. It’s like I was making up for lost time of not having pizza, pasta, and bread. I’m not going completely back to Whole 30, but I am going to eat along those lines. Anything to keep the migraines away.

As for my water intake, I have barely been getting to three bottles a day. When I was on Whole 30 I managed to drink anywhere between 6-8 bottles, but now I’ve really slacked off. I need to get back to drinking more water and stay away from the juice and the soda. The only soda I have drank is ginger-ale.

With Whole 30, it’s more of a body cleanse than it is a diet. It helps to curb your eating habits and even though I am done, I am not craving like I used to nor can I eat in the abundance I once did. In  no way am I obese, but I would snack all day even if it was past midnight. I’d have a urge to get up and go find a snack. Now, I’ve been using water to supplement that late night craving that I still have.

So below are the workout clothes that I picked up. I was thinking of doing an entire separeate post, but workout clothes, NEW workout clothes, have really motivated me to work out. I purchased everything from Kohls from brands including: Tek Gear, Nike, and Fila. All items pictured were on sale and it was the deal of spend $50 get $10. I ended up getting everything for a little over $100, but with savings it was over $180.

I was planning on buying a new pair of sneakers, but I already have two that will last me for the rest of the year. I am currently using my Nike Lunar Glide 2’s which I’ve had for quite some time and my black and white Nike Free 5.0‘s. The Nike Lunar Glide’s that I purchased are super old because Nike is up to the Lunar Glide 7. I paid under $100 for each sneaker. I love how lightweight the Nike Free’s are and I love the support of my Lunar Glide’s. I’m debating on whether I’d like to buy the Nike Roshe‘s. I’m mostly leaning towards another pair of Nike Free’s because I absolutely LOVE the feel of them.

I want to not only get fit as it is just better for my health to do so, but I want to be able to run a 5K come Spring 2016. I want to run a 5K in support of lung cancer. That is my ultimate goal! I really just need to stop the boredom eating and continue to stay hydrated and active.

Fashion Forward Friday [V.25]: Thrift Finds

I do not go thrifting as often as I would like simply because for one I don’t have the patience to look through everything and secondly there’s not many thrift stores in my area. I look at The Fashion Citizen YouTube videos and I look at what they find and I want to get out there and see what I could find, but when I plan I usually find nothing. I also love House of Aqua on YouTube as her home decor, even fashion finds, at the Goodwill and Salvation Army are amazing.  I took a spontaneous trip to a local thrift store and the Goodwill recently and I picked up three items all for a little over $20. I guess when I’m not looking I actually find some great pieces. First up I found a BRAND NEW pair of Eddie Bauer jeans that are a tall and loose fit. The Goodwill did not have a price tag on these, but I knew they couldn’t be too expensive. When looking online to see the price the jeans retail for $80. I paid $7.49. Score 1! eddiebauer Next up I continued to browse and came across a Ralph Lauren Sport denim shirt. Similar shirts retail for $70+. Goodwill had this priced for $7.99 so of course I had to buy it. I can’t wait to style it. Score 2! ralph Lastly, my friend and I headed to a local thrift store. It was very large and had a similar layout to that of a Forman Mills. I found a shirt as soon as I walked in from the brand Sonoma which can be purchased at Kohls. Kohls has similar styles priced at nearly $40. I paid $5.99. Score 3! sonoma I plan to take a thrift trip when I go to Atlanta this Summer, but I’ll still search around the ones in my area as well.

Fashion Forward Friday [V.23]: Heel Collection

I’ve posted my shoe bootie collection (click HERE for that post) and I wanted to share my heel collection. I have so many heels that I want to add to my collection so be sure to check that wish list out below as well. For my heels, it’s a growing collection and I’m starting to really get into heels. The ones that I own I’ve had for a while and I’ve downsized because at one point I had quite a bit. The ones I do own are not permanent in my collection minus a few pairs, but I’m content with what I have. Check out the slideshow below.

OOTD #12: Fancy Coat [11.23.14]

1122141150a~2I LOVE the fall because I love layering. Here’s a look I love with two staples in my wardrobe: black high-waisted jeans and polk a dot button-up.

For this look I kept it simple with two of my favorites as mentioned. I have been wearing my black high-waisted jeans like crazy. I didn’t want to wear all black like I’ve been wearing so I threw on my J. Crew button up. As for shoes I wanted to wear something new so I cuffed my jeans at the bottom and put on my new ShoeDazzle shoes that I absolutely love. Sidebar-Expect a review on those shoes in a future Fashion Forward Friday. As for my coat it’s a coat that I got for a great deal at Kohls. It’s about 2 seasons old, but it’s one of my favorite coats. Hence the title of this OOTD, ‘Fancy Coat’. To neutralize the look I decided to wear my Sammy Dress handbag along with Revlon’s Lip Butter in “Fig Jam’ (my absolute favorite lipstick).

Enough rambling. Thanks for reading. Be sure to click the links in the pic below to go directly to the pieces or something similar. Until next time…
