Aside from the success of ‘Fancy’, Iggy Azalea is riding high with the success of ‘Black Widow’ and her success all over Billboard. With that being said, it’s only right that her debut, The New Classic be released titled, The New Classic: Reclassified.
The album is set to be released next month, she tweeted it’s currently being mastered. The rerelease will of course feature the original album, for those who never listened past the radio hits, along with six new tracks.
Expect a review on those additional tracks, but in the meantime, check out my review to The New Classic, HERE!
First of let me just give a round of applause to J. Lo for being CLASSY with her ‘biggest asset’. The video really made me fall in love with the song. It’s catchy as hell and THIS is the version that should’ve been pushed from the get go. It’s not trashy and Ms. Jennifer Lopez SHOWS exactly how great you can look at 45 even after having twins.
So the video starts out with a count down then it goes into the video which made me dizzy in certain scenes. No it’s not a Kanye, ‘All of the Lights’, but there are scenes were the scenes move so fast that it even had my head spinning. J. Lo does her thing and then insert Iggy Azalea who does her thing as well. I really just love the overall production, how it sticks to black and white ensembles and really the only pop of color you get is J. Lo’s lip gloss / red lip stick.
Of course this video is compared to Nicki Minaj’s Anaconda (CLICK HERE for that review), but HONESTLY this video is way better. Nicki’s was all over the place with different scenes which is fine, but this is a classy way of showing off an ass. There was touching between J. Lo & Iggy, but it wasn’t demeaning nor overly sexual to where sit was awkward to watch. While ‘Anaconda’ has grown on me, as a lot of Nicki Minaj songs do, I do think that the video was over the top and that J. Lo won the battle with this one. Of course guys will gawk and say Nicki’s was better clearly because of the additional ass shots & Drake lap dance, BUT I prefer this one over the latter.
Jennifer Lopez announced Sunday (8.24) at the VMAs that the ‘Booty (Remix)’ would be coming soon and here it is just in time for new music Tuesday. She teams up with Iggy Azalea who is storming social media and the airwaves off the success of ‘Fancy’, her feature on ‘Problem’ and her latest single ‘Black Widow’ with Rita Ora. When I saw the artwork for the single I love how simple it looks. The ladies are glistening with the self tan and I only hoped that the song was good being that I wasn’t a fan of the original.
To my surprise, I actually like the track. To know that there’s a video coming for this makes it that much better. Iggy has spit better bars, but she does add a little something extra to the track. The beat also makes up for the lackluster lyrics. I won’t say it’s an end of summer fav, but I do like it.
While I am usually a huge fan of Iggy Azalea videos, this one has to be my least favorite. There have been pictures circulating for weeks for ‘Black Widow’ and the snippet that was released did not match that of the video. There’s no surprise that it had a Kill Bill theme, but being that Iggy is all for themes the video should’ve been just that. The diner scene in the beginning reminded me a lot of Lady Gaga’s, ‘Telephone’. In fact, the videos are very similar in using the Kill Bill theme as the truck from Kill Bill was used in ‘Telephone’.
Although the video was nicely put together, it did nothing for me. I get what they were going for, but it was really nothing spectacular to me. It was just a little bland. I know there was action and that’s a different side of Iggy, but she has better videos.
Be sure to catch her LIVE on the VMAs with Rita Ora when they perform ‘Black Widow’ on 8.24.Check out the video below:
Iggy Azalea stormed the Today Show and performed ‘Work’ and her summer smash, ‘Fancy’, which has been declared triple platinum. With over 3 million copies sold Iggy has become a household name with her infectious track.
‘Fancy’ was released February 17, 2014 and five months later on July 27th it was declared triple platinum. The that it took to get to #1 is similar to that of Nicki Minaj‘s, ‘Starships’,which was released on February 14, and was declared triple platinum on August 16, 2012. Iggy has reached the mark a hare faster and she was able to lock down the Hot 100 for seven weeks.
She also confirmed that she will be performing her new single, ‘Black Widow’, alongside Rita Ora at this yearsVMAs LIVE August 24th at 8pm on MTV.
