2016 Spring Essentials

Spring has officially arrived, but living in the tri-state, we have haven’t had much of a winter. On Christmas the weather was in the 60s and we’ve only had one major snowstorm. I know, that should be a good thing right? This is not typical weather as a Jersey girl. This time last year I had been out of work at least one day a week for snow. The tides have truly turned over the course of the year. Let’s get into my staples for spring.Be sure to click all the highlighted links for related posts or to purchase items mentioned.

1. Denim | I thrifted a denim shirt last summer and I absolutely love it. I love the look of denim on denim. It wasn’t always a favorite of mine, but light wash denim paired together looks amazing. In addition to this shirt I love my denim jacket that I purchased from Forever 21 years ago. Denim just screams jeans and while I’m on the hunt for a ripped pair, my shirt and jacket will due. Purchase similar styles below:

2. Canvas Sneakers | I am no sneaker head although there are shoes I’d like to add to my collection. I am a sucker for canvas sneakers which you can find just about anywhere in a variety of colors and prints. I love to buy mine printed because they become an instant accessory to an outfit. While some stand out more than others I love a mixture of bold and muted prints. A muted print to me is a more classic floral. I have purchased mine from H&M & Charlotte Russe. I would recommend searching in store for more of a variety, but similar styles are listed below:

3. High-Top Converse | I absolutely love my converse and although I purchased the high-tops, I love rolling them down. With the weather getting warmer I have ditched my Timbs and I have been wearing these on a daily basis. I would love a white pair maybe even pink, maybe. Purchase HERE.

4. Graphic Tees | While this could be a year round staple, I love rocking my graphic tees in the spring. Fall is more for layering and winter is about being cozy. Summer time, I’m all about my tanks. Yet in the Spring, I find myself buying graphic tees and I love all types. I usually buy mine from either Spencers or Hot Topic, depending on the selection, when they have the buy 1 get 1 50% off. Don’t spend a lot of money on them, try thrifting. I have all types from comics to wrestling, music, and  even the touristy ones. I don’t mind the cheesy graphic tee and I can’t wait to add more to my collection. Below are links to my favorite places to buy them:

I can’t wait to start taking pictures and sharing my outfits of the day or maybe even a lookbook featuring my spring essentials and more. Stay tuned!

OOTD #17: Cozy Holidays

IMG_2498The holiday season is in full swing. I wanted to share my outfit from Thanksgiving. I was thankful that I was able to spend it with my siblings, my grandmother, and my nephews. The holidays are a time to reflect on not only what you’re thankful for, but to spend it with the people you love. Being 1 of 5, to spend any holiday with my four siblings is a major plus.

I think of all the traditions my mom started such as the Christmas tree going up the day before Thanksgiving. My sister went for a white tree this year with gold decorations and I’m in love. Of course I had to snag a picture next to it.

My outfit was based around my shoes that I purchased from ShoeDazzle. I got semi-dressed for family photos, but adding my Banana Republic cardigan really added a ‘cozy’ feel to the look. By the time I got to my sisters I ditched the heels for fuzzy socks and curled on the couch and watched football. My jeans were high-waisted from Forever 21 and my shirt is one of my ultimate favs from H&M.

I didn’t wear any jewelry, but if I wanted to dress this look up even more I’d switch the cardigan for my leather jacket. In keeping the cardigan I could’ve added a statement necklace and a pair of studs. Ditching the heels I could easily pair this with ankle boots or a pair of Uggs, grey preferably. I’m really loving black & stripes. Also my grey cardigan has become a staple and I can pair it with just about anything.

I’ve linked below items to recreate the look.Be sure to click the links bolded above for related posts!

OOTD #13: Happy Valentines Day + VDay Mix

Plus check out my V-Day Playlist below with a little bit of this and a little bit of that.

Fashion Forward Friday [V.20]: Winter Essentials

winterbasics Living in the tri-state is a good and bad thing when it comes to the winter. I have more boots than any other shoe in my wardrobe and layering can be fun an stylish. The bad thing is the snow and the commute, people not knowing how to drive in such weather. Enough rambling. Above are my winter essentials that I love to rock in this extremely cold season. It’s clear that I love wearing black, I also love wearing anything oversized and the leggings pictured are specifically for layering under either sweats or jeans. All of the items shown above are items that I use time and time again during the season and some that I want to incorporate more. Pops of color with my accessories allows me to continue to wear all black. As for jewelry I wear hoops if I’m going somewhere, but on a day to day it’s usually just a beanie and my glasses.

Statement Necklace Collection

I have gone through phases of what I have liked to collect/accumulate and now I’m on the hunt for more statement necklaces. I have statement rings that I have given away because it’s just not my style. I have necklaces with different pendants that will be in a future post, plus there’s my statement earrings, and then a collection I love the most my necklaces. The collection includes Juicy Couture, Jewel Mint, Aldo, Forever 21, H&M, Charlotte Russe, Charming Charlie, Wet Seal, and the thrift store.

Check out my collection below, labeled with where they were purchased.

OOTD #5: Color Block [5.10.14]

Another week and another OOTD. This one was fun to put together. I went out with a friend for a late lunch and this is what I came up with. It was a bit on the cool side due to scattered thunderstorms, but I love how this look came out. Be sure to click the links in the caption to get the item or an item similar. On my lips I first wore Mac‘s ‘Heroine’, but after lunch I replaced that with a darker purple, Wet n Wild‘s ‘Cherry Bomb’.

I spent the earlier part of my day cleaning and doing my hair and now I’m off to spend some time with my boyfriend, after the Nets game ends. I tend to gravitate to the same accessories and this outfit is no different. The outfit overall is very simple.

My favorite part of this outfit were my shoes. My dress is striped and my shoes are floral which are two of my favorite prints. The shoes and dress are a regular $12.95 each. I was able to snag the shoes for $8 thanks to a $5 off coupon.

Fashion Forward Friday [V.9] — Spring Haul (Pt. 2)

Welcome to another edition of FASHION FORWARD FRIDAY! This week is yet another spring haul. I only have a couple more left in this mini-series. I took yet another shopping trip not really looking for anything, but I came out with a few goodies. I stopped at H&MWet Seal, and Hot Topic,

In my previous FFF I stopped at H&M and I picked up a pair of flats. Yet again I wasn’t looking for anything in particular. I did see that they had leggings 2 for $10 and since they are regularly $9.95 I took advantage of the deal. I wish they had cropped ones, but the ankle-length was fine. Click here to purchase the Jersey Leggings. On top of that I got a coupon for $5 off my next purchase. Glad I didn’t toss the bag as soon as I got home.

Next up I headed to Hot Topic out of curiosity and everything in the store was Buy 1, Get 1 50% off so I headed straight to the t-shirts. I came across a few music ones that I wanted, but I decided on the Minion tee for myself and the Bob Marley one for my boyfriend.

photo-5

Total came out to $30.75 + $15 Hot Cash that I can use at the end of April to the middle of May on a purchase of $30 or more. I have a couple t-shirts I want so I’ll be going back for those.

Here’s the links to the shirts:

I couldn’t find the exact Bob Marley shirt, but click here to see what other Marley designs are offered.

Lastly I went in Wet Seal to see they were having a MAJOR sale. The sale included buy 1 shirt, get 1 for $5. All hair accessories buy 1, get 1 50% off, all jewelry 50% off, and on certain items an additional 60% would be taken off. To go with my Minion t-shirt from Hot Topic, I got a ‘Happy’ chain for $4.75 and the earrings were $3.75 a regular $7.50 for the set. I also picked up a few headbands. The daisy one for, $4.24, and the double headband set for $3.75 with the buy 1 get 1 50% off deal.

I went home and purchased a couple more items from Wet Seal so stay tuned for those in my Spring Haul Pt. 3. If you missed out on Pt. 1, click here.
