I kept telling myself that I wasn’t going to shop before I went on vacation, yet I walked into H&M and they were having a sale. I didn’t pick up much and all items that I will show were under $100, but seriously, no more shopping until vacation.
From H&M I picked up 2 necklaces, 2 sets of midi rings, a purse, and the best buy of all, a scarf. The two necklaces I purchased were a total of $10, if purchased full price I would have spent $24.95. Awesome savings. As for the midi rings one set was $3.95 which I purchased of $1 and the other was $5.95 which I purchased for $3. The scarf was my favorite purchase of all as it was only $1. Yes, $1. It was originally $12.95, marked down to $7, then $3, and then $1. I couldn’t leave it behind and I can’t wait to style it in the fall. The only item I purchased full price was a purse that was $40. There was a similar style on sale for $20, but the olive green color I could not pass up. Hey, it’s okay to treat yourself every now and then and I’d rather purchase a bag I love then to settle for one I like. Check out the items below:
From Forever 21 I purchased a shirt, in one of my favorite colors, and I like to call it business in the front, party in the back. The shirt is so chic and although it has a huge slit in the back, it’s not much and it’s kind of a high-low, very slightly. Love, love, love this and it was only $12.95.
Lastly I picked up a pair of earrings from Aldo (pictured above). I went in to purchase my sister some things for her 8th Grade Dinner Dance and they were having a sale, buy 3 get 25% off. I picked up a pair of gold aztec type earring for $8.50, with the 25% off. In total I spent a little over $50 which was great considering one of the items I purchased was $40.
I can’t wait to style the pieces that I purchased and be on the lookout for future posts featuring these items. Check out my YouTube, LakiaBTV, and follow me on Instagram @ChaoticCritic.
It’s been a year since I’ve posted a What’s In My Bag. When I started my Fashion Forward Friday Series it was the first installment (Click HERE for that). Well, I love sharing what’s in my bag and when looking at my initial post, the contents are pretty much the same. I thought I’d still share anyway.
The purse that I am currently using is a Liz Claiborne Drawstring Bucket Bag from JCPenny. I posted it in my ‘Happy HAULidays’ post (Click HERE for that), I got my bag in black which is what I needed, an everyday black bag.
No need to go in depth with everything as most of what’s in my bag are self-explanatory,.I will say, I always need to have pens and paper to jot down blogging ideas and other thoughts I have throughout the day. I prefer to write than take notes in my phone.
Looking closer into my ‘lippie bag’, I chose to uses clear bag from one of my bag sets so I could see everything. I have a mirror, translucent powder, a brush, and mascara. I use the translucent powered to make the OCC lip tar stay on longer. As for my three lip colors (click the links to lead directly to product):
Living in the tri-state is a good and bad thing when it comes to the winter. I have more boots than any other shoe in my wardrobe and layering can be fun an stylish. The bad thing is the snow and the commute, people not knowing how to drive in such weather. Enough rambling. Above are my winter essentials that I love to rock in this extremely cold season. It’s clear that I love wearing black, I also love wearing anything oversized and the leggings pictured are specifically for layering under either sweats or jeans. All of the items shown above are items that I use time and time again during the season and some that I want to incorporate more. Pops of color with my accessories allows me to continue to wear all black. As for jewelry I wear hoops if I’m going somewhere, but on a day to day it’s usually just a beanie and my glasses.

I LOVE the fall because I love layering. Here’s a look I love with two staples in my wardrobe: black high-waisted jeans and polk a dot button-up.
For this look I kept it simple with two of my favorites as mentioned. I have been wearing my black high-waisted jeans like crazy. I didn’t want to wear all black like I’ve been wearing so I threw on my J. Crew button up. As for shoes I wanted to wear something new so I cuffed my jeans at the bottom and put on my new ShoeDazzle shoes that I absolutely love. Sidebar-Expect a review on those shoes in a future Fashion Forward Friday. As for my coat it’s a coat that I got for a great deal at Kohls. It’s about 2 seasons old, but it’s one of my favorite coats. Hence the title of this OOTD, ‘Fancy Coat’. To neutralize the look I decided to wear my Sammy Dress handbag along with Revlon’s Lip Butter in “Fig Jam’ (my absolute favorite lipstick).
Enough rambling. Thanks for reading. Be sure to click the links in the pic below to go directly to the pieces or something similar. Until next time…
Last week I posted my Fall Haul Pt. 1 (click HERE for that). I had a couple more items that came in and I wanted to share. In shopping for fall pieces I knew that I had a lot of clothes already in my closet and I’ve even (forced myself) to downsize what I’m not wearing.
Sidebar, for the items that I have given away they are brand new or only worn a couple times. I have a few listed on Vinted (click HERE), but a majority is donated to my church’s clothes closet.
Back to the haul, I am currently buying pieces that will become staples in my wardrobe more so than be trendy. I found a pair of shoes that I love and a lippie set that I couldn’t pass up.
First up are my new shoes from ShoeDazzle. I do not want to give too much away because I will be doing a full review sometime this month on my experience with ShoeDazzle. I’ve always wanted a pair of maroon/oxblood shoe booties and I have a pair from GoJane (click HERE for that review), but these have a heel. I absolutely love them! Again stay tuned for the review. To see if the shoe is still available, clickHERE. The shoe is called the ‘Jasleen’ by Leila Stone.
Next up was a lippie set from Sephora that I came across last year, but it was sold out. The set is ‘Give Me More Lip’ and there is ‘Give Me Some Lip’. I received a $50 Sephora gift card for my birthday (so sweet) and I treated myself to the “Give Me More Lip” set which cost a whopping $69. Thankfully out of pocket all I had to pay was a little over $13. A full review will be given on this product from hits and misses and of course swatches, so stay tuned for that. Be sure to click all links above to get to the product, if it is still available.
We are now in November, HAPPY NOVEMBER, and I will be accumulating a few more pieces here and there. The lippie set was a sure splurge, but as for future purchases I’m thinking longterm and versatile. Thanks for reading. (All photos are that of my own.)
It’s great to feature companies and in this edition of Fashion Forward Friday I am featuring Lover.ly. Lover.ly is “The New Way to Plan Your Wedding.” This one-stop shop for all your wedding needs from the dress to invitations, Since the company launched on Valentine’s day in 2012 their mission has been “to make wedding planning more simple and more fun.” Who wouldn’t want to add simplicity what could turn to a Bridezilla situation? In this edition I will be sharing my favorite wedding dress from the site and an entire look for that special day. Be sure to click the links within the post.
I chose to go with a lace dress from David’s Bridal as it serves as the main attraction and accessory of the look. Being that the dress is strapless, the dress can either be in a bun or if you have shorter hair, beach waves would be cute as well.
Shoes, shoes, oh how I LOVE shoes. I chose a nude pair of t-strap sandals that are under $100 from Nastygal. You can add them to your every day wardrobe even after your special day. The other choice of shoes is a pair of gold/nude sandals for those ladies having a reception or for those that are just not comfortable in heels. T-strap sandals are not the most comfortable and if you plan on dancing around the simple sandal will give you that comfort.
For makeup I went with my favorite fromMac, Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation. While you want to be flawless on your wedding day you also do not want to cake a whole bunch of makeup on your face. With this powder foundation you can apply for the amount of coverage that you want. For me personally I would say its a good medium coverage foundation. An alternative to this if you do not want to pay $27 is BH Cosmetics, BH Studio Pro Matte Finish Pressed Powder. Compared to Mac which has 42 shades, BH Cosmetics offers 7. For a thorough review of that product check out one of my favorite YouTubers, WhatWouldLizzyDo.
Moving on to the eyes. I would go for the Urban Decay, Naked 2 Palette as you can get both simple every day looks plus vamp it up with a smoky eye. For this look I think a smoky eye, not heavily smoky, would be great. Below is a tutorial from YouTuber, ThatGirlShaeXO, that I would use.
In addition, you do not have to wear fake eyelashes. With Younique 3D Fiber Lashes, you can get the fullness and length that lashes give.
As for the lips I chose one of my favorite lippies which is Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Fig Jam. They are so moisturizing and who would not want soft smooth lips for the duration of their wedding ceremony. The pigmentation is withstanding and buildable which is a great deal for just $9. It’s definitely one of my favorite lippies that I own. I went for a more neutral lipstick that not only hydrated, but something that wouldn’t stain, well noticeably stain.

Well the World Series are underway and the series is tied 1-1 with the San Francisco Giants and Kansas City Royals slated to play tonight 10/24 in game 3. I am not a fan of either team so no bias when creating this look. I decided to go with the Royals. Fanatics.comhas a great selection for your game day attire and both thehatandshirtfor this look are both from the site. The look I came up with is comfortable, trendy, and game worthy.
I decided to go with boyfriend jeans because not only are they flattering to any body type they are extremely comfortable. I would cuff the jeans and then pair them with a pair of converse. Maybe not the most comfortable sneaker, but they are a great addition to any wardrobe. Around my waist I would tie the plaid shirt. It just adds an extra element to the outfit and in addition to serving as an accessory if you did get chilly you could throw it on. It wouldn’t be a game without the teams attire. I chose one of the championship shirts because it’s a big deal to get to the World Series. The gold in the shirt ties in with the bag. Just a little detail. Also the basic Kansas City cap just ties it all together. Both the hat and the shirt are from Fanatics. No need to lug a huge purse. Crossbody bags are great for any time of outdoor event and even on the go. You can store your phone, a camera if you choose, and anything else you lug around.
I chose the pieces I did because not only are they comfortable, but they can transition to an array of other outfits. I wanted to do something different then the regular team t-shirt, hat, jeans, hoodie. This is just a little something extra to a traditional outfit.
Fanatics offers an array of sports attire from baseball to football, basketball, hockey, Nascar and more. Be sure to click all links in this post to check out what Fanatics has to offer.
