2015 BET Awards Highlights

Another award show has come and gone and as much as I convinced myself that I wouldn’t be watching this years BET Awards, I ended up watching. The show was hosted by Tracee Ellis Ross and Anthony Anderson with a whole bunch of fluff and mediocre performances in between.
I won’t touch base on every performance, but let’s get into my favorites.

Single Review: Janet Jackson, ‘No Sleep’

Janet Jackson is a music legend with 10 albums, 6 Grammy’s and a multitude of other awards. She’s lived up to her famous family name and has set the bar high for ladies following in her footsteps. It was announced that she’d be making a return and fans get their first taste of her comeback with her track ‘No Sleep.’

BET Awards 2015: The Nominees

It’s that time of year again or the BET Awards. I remember when I was in middle school I would be excited to watch the show. Now it’s just gotten to be too generic, the winners are too predictable and there’s nothing really special about the performances. It’s amazing that the show has lasted 14 years. Maybe next year they’ll do something special for the 15th annual. Check out my 2014 performance review here.

This Week In Music (V.15) – BET Awards 2014 [Review]

The 2014 BET Awards aired this past Sunday (6.29) and I’ve been waiting to give my take on the show for this edition of This Week In Music. Now I did NOT watch the entire show and I kept up with what was going on via Instagram but we will get into the winners that I chose in a previous post and my take on the performances. Jennifer Hudson Titles New Album, JHUD

I’ve reviewed two of Jennifer Hudson’s tracks off her upcoming album, ‘I Can’t Describe’ and ‘Walk It Out’. Out of the two ‘Walk It Out’ is definitely my favorite. Well, in addition to debuting her latest collab, ‘It’s Your World’ featuring R. Kelly, she’s released the title of her upcoming album along with an album sampler (via SoundCloud).

2014 BET Awards Nominees + My Picks

It’s been a few days since this has been announced, but as always I want to give my predictions so let’s get into the 2014 BET Awards Nominees.

The 14th annual show will air will air Sunday, June 29th, at 8/7c and will be hosted by Chris Rock. Yup, yet another comedian as a host. Let’s discuss the nominees in the bigger categories of the night: Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Best Female Hip Hop Artist, Best Male R&B Pop Artist, Best Male Hip Hop Artist, Best New Artist, Video of the Year, Best Collaboration, and Coca-Cola Viewer’s Choice Award. Out of the 20 categories these eight hold the most weight.
