Sound Off: Royal Wedding Mania

Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex

May 19, 2018

It’s official. Prince Harry is officially off the market. He and Meghan Markle have tied the knot. To say that the ceremony was beautiful would be an understatement. There was so much Black Magic in the place from the Bishop preaching to the choir singing ‘Stand By Me.’ From beginning to end, it was absolutely stunning. Harry really had to compose himself. Meghan on the other hand was so poised. Although her father wasn’t there to walk her down the aisle, her father-in-law was happy to. As for Harry when she finally reached him –

You look Amazing! I’m so lucky.Β

It doesn’t get more adorable than that. The way they stared into each others eyes as they said their vows. Oh, and Harry will be wearing a wedding ring unlike his brother.

While the ceremony was stunning from start to finish and there was nothing but love in the air, not all eyes were on Harry and Meghan. Of course, there had to be more drama stirred up. The facial expressions from Harry’s cousin while the Bishop was preaching are priceless. Harry’s ex, Chelsy Davy, was also in attendance.

Now, it’s no secret that Harry’s father, Prince Charles, had an affair with his now wife Camilla while he was married to Diana. I don’t think that Harry’s ex being there is the case. Maybe it’s a form of closure. I’m pretty sure Meghan has this one under control. Maybe Harry and the ex are still friends and she knows her place. Prince Harry is clearly smitten by his new bride so I don’t see any scandalous affairs on the horizon. I see BABIES!

Ceremony Dress vs. Reception DressΒ

royal2There were mixed reviews on Meghan’s wedding dress. I loved the simplicity of it. You really couldn’t go wrong. The subtle off the shoulders, the long veil, just classic. Her bouquet is one to take note of, it’s filled with flowers from Princess Diana’s garden handpicked by Harry (how sweet!). As for her Tiara, it was the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau. As for her reception dress, that’s the winner for me. Although, I can see why it’s not “the” wedding dress. It would be too casual for the wedding. When in doubt, keep it simple and classic. You can never go wrong. Of course everyone was expecting more glitz and glam. I think that’s due to the whirlwind and fan fare surrounding the wedding. Simple always works. She was stunning. I really loved the long veil.

The look for the reception from both Meghan and Harry were stunning. Meghan had the sleek dress and Harry was black tie ready in his tux. They sailed off into the sunset in a vintage silver-blue Jaguar E-Type Concept Zero that had their wedding date on the license plate. Meghan rocked a gift from her hubby, an aquamarine ring that belonged to Princess Diana.

It’s unfair to compare wedding dresses because everyone has their personal preference. No ones dress can compare to Princess Diana’s. She set the bar of lavish dresses and so many people in modern times try to replicate her design. Her daughter-in-laws each looked beautiful on their special days. In choosing between Kate and Meghan, Meghan gets my vote. I’m not a fan of the lace sleeves on Kate’s dress, but I like the cut.

Celebrities were out from Oprah to Amal Clooney, The Beckham’s, Priyanka Chopra, Serena Williams, and more. Let’s not forget the hundreds of thousands lined up as they couple rode off in their horse and carriage. Was I up at 5am, yes by default. I had somewhere to be. Yet, every time I look at pictures and see clips of this remarkable day, my heart melts. Love is love. Love is beautiful. I pray everyone finds their “person” to spend it with.
