What I’m Loving in 2017 | April – June

We are entering the second half of 2017. It’s crazy how fast the year has gone by and it’s that time again for my collective favorites. It’s easier to share what I’m loving over a span of a few months versus one month. Sometimes, nothing new is on my radar for a particular month which leaves nothing to share. This ‘What I’m Loving’ series features my quarterly favorites.

I love YouTube and I find myself watching it more than TV. These past three months I have watched every single story time video from Nikki Glamour and Riyah Riyah. My latest addition is Hey Paris. The way that they tell their stories are engaging and funny as hell.

As for the TV that I do watch, I found myself wrapped in both the Stanley Cup Finals and the NBA Finals. I watched the Stanley Cup Finals for the Pittsburgh Penguins (#BURGHPROUD) and they came away with that back to back championship. As for the NBA finals, basketball isn’t my thing, but I watched to see if LeBron would lose. Sorry not sorry LeBron/Cavalier fans.

My latest obsession that will be rolling into the Summer, especially since I have nothing else to watch, is Game of Thrones. I am late to the party with this one, but I can see why people enjoy it so much. I’m still on season 1, but I hope to be all caught up by the end of July, early August.

Of course my list wouldn’t be a list without MUSIC! Here’s what I’m loving and will be on my summer rotation:

  • Kendrick Lamar, ‘Humble’
  • Future, ‘Mask Off’
  • DJ Khaled featuring Rihanna & Bryson Tiller, ‘Wild Thoughts’
  • Katy Perry featuring Nicki Minaj, ‘Swish Swish’
  • Fitz and The Tantrums, ‘HandClap’
  • Calvin Harris featuring Pharrell, Katy Perry, & Big Sean, ‘Feels’
  • Cardi B, ‘Bodak Yellow’

I am a planner addict which you can see if you’re a frequent reader of my blog. Out of all the favorites that I’ve posted over the years, I never really talked about my planners. I use my Happy Planner on a regular basis which is great for weekly planning, but lately I’ve been obsessed with my ringbound planner and my traveler’s notebooks.

Why more than one planner? Obviously one would suffice. I use my ringbound planner for work stuff, personal to do lists, and my finances. My traveler’s notebook is for journaling. The compact sizes of both make them easy to carry around regardless of the bag I’m using.

I have been purging my closet quite a bit as a lot of what I have just isn’t my style any more. I’ve purged my handbags especially, but I’ve added to new ones to my collection, backpacks. I have a black one and an olive green one. These are perfect for on the go. While I love my huge totes, being able to shop hands free is my wave right now.

I added a pair of shoes to my collection and to be honest I don’t remember the last time I bought a pair. Okay wait, last summer I really wanted a pair of strap up sandals and I found a pair at Target. I found a pair of sling back black flats at Payless (Christian Siriano) and I desperately needed a pair. When it comes to flats, with a size 10 foot, pointed toe flats are my jam. I will say that sling backs are on trend, but some designs are just a no for me. A classic black pair, you can’t go wrong.

I watched a video by VasseurBeauty where she shared her Amazon hacks. Before making any purchases I put those hacks to the test. I purchased a couple of iPhone cases, screen protectors, a car mount, and meal prep containers. My favorites, definitely the car mount and meal prep containers.

Meal prep containers come a dime a dozen, but I absolutely love the set that I purchased. I was able to get 10, 3 compartment containers for around $11. The price for this particular set has raised to nearly $13, but that’s still a great deal for the amount you get plus they’re microwave safe and BPA free.

As for the car mount?  It was worth EVERY PENNY ($20)!  It’s a air vent car mount from the brand Koomus and it’s been the best thing ever since I commute daily. It will fit any phone since it’s cradles. All you do is take the magnet and adhere it to your phone or phone case (I recommend the inside of the phone case) and voila. It’s easy to take in and out with no problem. I will say that I will have to find a way to maneuver this when it gets colder so that the heat from the vent does no overheat my iPhone.
