Motivatonal Monday | Keep Going

Speeches at award shows come a dime a dozen. Being that they happen so often, when one really speaks to you, they’re a real gem. As tensions are rising here in the U.S., you will find a lot of speeches turn back to politics. For me, there’s nothing like a speech that speaks to work ethic, your passions, and that fire inside waiting to ignite. Denzel Washington’s speech at the 2017 NAACP Image Awards back in February did just that.

“Ease is a greater threat to progress than hardship. So, keep moving, keep learning, keep growing. See you at work.”

-Denzel Washington

I’ve literally been feeling like my life is in shambles. I feel like I haven’t had control over anything. My bedroom has been a mess and instead of taking time to clean it up, I decided to sleep in another room in my home to avoid the mess. I mean it was as simple as putting the new bedsheets on my bed and putting away my clothes. My office? That’s a whole other jungle in itself. Still, I didn’t have the energy for any of it.

I feel like I’ve shared this story before, of a similar sort, but this happens to me from time to time. I fall off track and then something clicks and rejuvenates me and I’m back to my regular routine.

So what the heck does this Denzel Washington quote have to do with the dissaray in my life? It really just put things back into perspective. I’ve been wanting to share this Motivational Monday for about a month now, hence why I’m using a quote from February, but I don’t just write Motivational Mondays just because it’s Monday. I want to share with you guys real feelings, real thoughts, my real emotions. It’s as real as it gets. This quote really helped me to further think about what I want in my life as far as what’s next for my blog and the new career path that I’ve taken.

Taking the easy way out can no longer, and is no longer an option for me. That’s what “Ease is a greater threat to progress than hardship” means. When you’re going through a hardship you have to find a way to pull through.
