Michaels is on quite a roll with the their planners. They have surely taken the booming and blooming planner community to another level with their affordable product. Now that’s what I like to call zoning in on a particular sector and capitalizing.

The back of the monthly divider features a space for ‘ideas’ and the front of each calendar features a space for ‘notes and thoughts.’ The layout is horizontal with a space for ‘week of’, ‘notes’, and Sunday-Saturday. The end of each month has another space for ‘notes and thoughts.’
The A5 size has a note taken calendar pack with a vertical layout of four boxes on a page. The bright calendar pack has a vertical layout as well. There is are other variations (tropical) that have horizontal layouts. Both packs feature 84 calendar sheets, 97 sheets in total.
Aside from the add-ons that are available in store, there a lot of online resources as well. There are free printables and you can also purchase inserts on Etsy. One of my favorite sticker sheets on Etsy are made for this style of planner although you can implement them into any size planner.
Another great thing about this style of planner is that you can DIY the dashboards. I created 3 dashboards repurposing products I had in my craft stash and you can do the same. Materials I used included:
- Gold Paper Doily
- Me & My Big Idea | Black & White Transparencies
- Dollar Tree cutting boards
- Dollar Tree self-laminating sheets
I used the dividers that came inside the planner as a template to make sure that the holes were right, but the dividers you make do not have to match exactly. You can also repurpose gift bags. These items are great to repurpose and not have to worry about the fuss of the laminator. If you use a thick enough gift bag it’ll work just fine.
Bank Or Tank?
I would definitely BANK this planner. I’ve never used a 6-ring planner before, but at this price point, why not try it out? As I noted above, you can score this beauty for $10 or less depending on the coupon you’re using. Sometimes they clearance these bad boys so be sure to check your local Michaels to see what’s available. Also when you’re in Michaels and you’re unsure of where to find these, they typically group all their planners together which includes Happy Planner as well.
