Planning for 2017: Happy Planner

I am no stranger to the Happy Planner. The Happy Planner is what got me into the planner craze to begin with. As a brand evolves, of course their product evolves as well. The Happy Planner line has done just that. From deluxe to hardcover covers, 3 sizes of planners, box kits, and let’s not forget, tickers galore.

My Planning for 2017 series would not be complete without a Happy Planner review. I did a review of the seasonal box kit, but then the ‘This Is Your Year’ neutral planner was released and I’m in love! I got it on Black Friday when it was $10. Awesome score.

  • CLASSIC Happy Planner (7.75″ x 9.75″) – $24.99
  • MINI Happy Planner (4.5″ x 7″) – $19.99

The planner that I’ll be using is the CLASSIC Happy Planner.

  • Sturdy, laminated covers
  • Snap-In Cover
  • Deluxe Cover with snap closure

Types of Planners

  • Big / Classic / Mini
  • Undated
  • 12 or 18 month
  • Box Kits
  • Fitness Planner

I prefer the 12 month planners. I used an 18 month planner during the initial release of the Happy Planner back in 2015. With Happy Planner always releasing something new, I don’t want to commit to an 18 month planner again.

I went with the 12 month ‘This Is Your Year’ design which is so gorgeous. If you’re looking for a neutral vertical planner and don’t want to break the bank with a neutral Erin Condren Life Planner, this is a great option. Everything about it is so sleek, chic, and on trend. When I saw the gold foiling and the plain style of it on Instagram, I fell in love.

I initially bough the Seasonal Box Kit, but I’ll be giving that away and rocking with the ‘This Is Your Year’ instead. The key differences between the two planners are:

  • Different format of the ‘This Month Currently’ page
  • Shaded weekend on monthly and weekly spreads in Seasonal style
  • Decorated pages / fancy handwriting in seasonal
  • Seasonal dividers (seasonal) | Quotes and foiling dividers (neutral)

  • Vertical
  • Horizontal

I absolutely love the vertical style. When picking your planner layout think of your writing style. I’m a lister so vertical works best for me.

The cover I chose was white with gold foil, very similar to a cover in their initial extension pack.

What’s Inside?

  • Laminated tabs
  • Some dividers treated with FOIL
  • Year-at-a-glance calendar pages
  • Unique monthly and weekly layouts (different depending on the style of planner you choose)

Extension Packs

  • Six Month (Big / Classic / Mini)
  • Wedding Planner
  • Recipe
  • Budget
  • Fitness
  • Home

The best perk of the Happy Planner is that you can buy it in store! Whether you go to Michaels, AC Moore (small selection) or Hobby Lobby.

Bank Or Tank?

I cannot rave enough about the Happy Planner  and all its products, so it’s definitely a BANK! You can pick up in stores which is a major plus compared to other planners I have reviewed in my Planning for 2017 series. What’s great about buying in stores is that you can always find a coupon code. At Hobby Lobby there’s always a 40% off code plus at Michaels you can score a 50% off and if you’re lucky 60%. With that discount why not try out a vertical style planner that you can customize to your liking. You can keep in all 12 months, 3 months at a time, or 6 months. The choice is yours.

Unsure of what planner to use in 2017?
