This Week In Music (V.39): Hot 100, New Music, & MORE!

Welcome to another edition of This Week In Music. I still love updating every now and then about music news and what’s new. Click the links below for my most recent posts and click HERE for the last edition of This Week In Music:

Over on the Billboard 200 the Descendants Soundtrack is in at #1 followed by Future’s DS2 and Taylor Swift continues to move back to the top with 1989. As for the top of the charts, The Weeknd’s ‘Can’t Feel My Face,’ rules the Hot 100. It’s followed by OMI’s ‘Cheerleader’ and One Directions’s new track, ‘Drag Me Down.’ Take a listen below:

There hasn’t been much music released as of late that has really got into my head. It’s the usual tracks on the radio. I hear ‘Bad Blood’ multiple times a day along with ‘Can’t Feel My Face,’ ‘Cheerleader,’ ‘Worth It,’ ‘Where Are U Now,’ plus countless others on the Hot 100. That’s the main issue I have with radio. I get the concept of Top 40 and fans calling in and requesting, but sometimes I just have to put on an old CD in my car or make my own playlist on Spotify just so I don’t have to hear the same songs, at the same time, on various stations, on rotation.

Adam Levine has a new song, well he’s featured on a new song ‘Locked Away’ with R. City. I’m not a fan of the track at all. There’s nothing I like about it. I’m all for Adam and Maroon 5, but when he’s featured, I’m not a huge fan. I wasn’t completely in love with ‘Stereo Hearts,’ but I enjoyed that more than this one. After seeing the video, I’m glad that it has concept. Nothing worse than videos that have a deeper meaning and they are either cliche or no substance at all. Check out the video below:

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have a new single titled, ‘Downtown,’ They recently released a track featuring Ed Sheeran titled, ‘Growing Up.’ Compared to what was featured on The Heist, ‘Growing Up’ has a more deeper message. I bet they have a radio smash coming soon. Maybe their next single could be it. It’s been 3 years so a new album is needed. Listen to their latest below:

Robin Thicke has a new track featuring Nicki Minaj and while I don’t mind him as an artist, I just wish he’d do a straight R&B album to get back to the essence of music. Yes his divorce with Paul Patton was very public and his album Paula just added to the damage. He really does not need to compete with the times. He can earn back his artist credibility just by making good music. This track with Nicki along with the video just don’t do it for me. Check it out below:

Lastly, is anyone else ready for a new Adele album. Every now and then I read that she’s working with this person and that person, but honestly I’d rather wait for greatness than a slapped together project. She has a lot riding on her with the success of 21 plus wining an Oscar for ‘Skyfall’ in between time. I’m so ready for a new album, that rumor has it will be titled 25. Hopefully we’ll hear it soon. Rumor has it that it may just be released in September. Cheers to any new Adele music before the end of 2015!
