This Week In Music (V. 33): New Music Overload + More

Welcome to another edition of This Week In Music. Sorry for my absence last week. Check out my posts below over the course of the past 2 weeks:

Now that we’re all caught up, be sure to click the links above, let’s get into chart news. Taylor Swift is surging up the Billboard 200 and has topped the Hot 100 due to the success of the ‘Bad Blood’ video. She’s dethroned Wiz Khalifa’s ‘See You Again,’ which had knocked ‘Uptown Funk’ off the top. Over on the Billboard 200, 1989, is in at #2 with Twenty One Pilots’, Blurryface, in at #1. Taylor Swift could very well nab the #1 spot next week. I’m pretty sure ‘Bad Blood’ could hold down the #1 spot for a second week on the Hot 100.

In new music, Lil Mama has released a video titled ‘Sausage.’ Despite the Instagram popular inspired lyrics, she has a great flow on this and the energy is crazy. I really wish she could showcase her dancing more. America’s Best Dance Crew(ABDC) was a GREAT fit for her. It takes me back to my high school days when Harlem music was really popular, such as ‘Chicken Noodle Soup.’ This track has more substance, no worries. Check out the video below:

Remy Ma and Papoose have been low-key as far as music. Not much has been heard from Remy since she’s been released from prison. This time around she teams up to do a little freestyle with her hubby over Smoothe Da Hustler and Trigger Tha Gamblers, ‘Broken Language.’ They got oh so creative with their title and named theirs ‘Broken Slanguage.’ Listen to the love birds below:

Moving on, Lil Jon released a track featuring T-Pain, Problem, and Snoop Dogg titled ‘My Cutie Pie.’ I don’t mind tracks with an old school vibe, but Lil Jon really needs to stay in the EDM lane. His voice just works. This is not going to be a hit like ‘Turn Down for What.’ This is just, bleh for me. Listen below:

Lastly, Dawn Richard is one underrated artist. Her sound is not what’s on the radio, so of course that’s one of the reason she gets the cold shoulder, but her voice is unique and she can surely DANCE! One of my favorites from her is ‘Bombs’ from her EP, Armor On. She’s back with new music and a new video featuring two tracks, ‘Titans’ and ‘James Dean.’ I’m not a huge fan of either, but the New Orleans Bounce of ‘James Dean’ is fire. Check out the video and listen to the mix below:
